The number six wireless carrier in the United States has decided to offer new unlimited data plans designed for business entities. Indeed, C Spire Wireless is aiming to attract the enterprise customers by introducing plans starting at $70 each for the first and second lines of service, with as many as half a dozen additional lines for $20 each.
These new plans are made available only for new lines of service activated on the mobile operator’s monthly device payment plans and mobile devices bought with no contracts. Similar to what other wireless carriers are doing, C Spire Wireless has a connection restriction set in place -- mobile users who consume more than 25 gigabytes of data in a given month may experience slowed down connection speeds.
Unlimited data offerings notwithstanding, C Spire Wireless has been busy making preparations for its own upcoming 5G service. Just recently, the wireless carrier has filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for Special Temporal Authority to be able to conduct trials and demos of 5G millimeter wave communication equipment with Phazr at its corporate HQ. And then a month ago, the company also revealed that it had added 700 MegaHertz or 850 MegaHertz of low band airwaves to over 900 cell sites, which should broaden its wireless coverage over farther distances and inside houses, buildings, and other structures.
Some may remember that last December, C Spire Wireless had introduced an unlimited data promo, which promises unlimited voice call minutes and data gigabytes for a price of $65 a month. The offer was only open to customers who decide to activate a new line of service on a handset via C Spire’s equipment installment plan with a two year agreement.
The unlimited data wars is truly on in the industry, and it is no surprise that C Spire Wireless is fully joining in on the fun. When major US mobile operators T-Mobile and Sprint started offering unlimited data plans back in August of last year, their moves would go on to ignite increased competition among service providers. And it appears that there is no end in sight for this so-called unlimited data wars, with industry leader Verizon Wireless jumping into the fray a few weeks ago, and AT&T also announcing several days later that it was opening up its unlimited offering to all users, not only to existing subscribers of its DirecTV brand. Then in March early this year, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint had expanded their respective unlimited data plans to prepaid.
