Just this week, mobile virtual network operator Republic Wireless has decided to unveil a new promotional deal, and one that is aimed for students -- or more accurately, for parents who are looking to purchase a mobile device for their kids just in time for the start of the new school year. Basically, this latest special offer from the MVNO runs for an entire week (until August 6th), and features Motorola's Moto E4, free mobile service, and some other bundled items, for a very good price.
Now for the specifics -- Motorola’s Moto E4 smartphone is typically priced at $129, but Republic Wireless’ promo offers the device by way of a bundle that just costs $99. Since it is a bundled offer, it naturally comes with other featured items. These include a whole month of wireless service free of charge, and an Incipio case that should protect the Moto E4 from damage (this case is normally priced at $20).
Many consider Republic Wireless as one of the first ever mobile operators in the country to adopt the “Wi-Fi First” business model. By letting its customers connect first to Wi-Fi networks (which are considerably less pricey as compared to most cellular networks), the MVNO has practically allowed users to enjoy savings on their mobile plan. Of course, when it is needed, Republic Wireless can easily shift to countrywide 4G LTE cell networks, which provides some flexibility for its customers. The carrier’s plans start at $15, and they already come with unlimited voice calls and text messaging (whether on Wi-Fi or cellular). As for those who avail of the operator’s plans, they can rest assured that they are picking the amount of data they actually consume, as opposed to paying a premium for unlimited gigabytes that come with plenty of caveats.
And in terms of choosing a good handset for kids, the Moto E4 is certainly not a bad choice. Its 5 inch display screen is complemented with an 8 megapixel camera on the rear side as well as a 5 megapixel sensor on the front side. Its 1.4 GigaHertz four core chip set is supported with a couple of gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and 16 gigabytes of built in memory (expandable up to 128 gigabytes by way of a micro SD card slot). It is equipped with a 2,800 mAh battery and is powered by Google’s Android 7.1 Nougat mobile operating system.
