Mobile virtual network operator Republic Wireless has officially announced that it is now offering Motorola’s Moto E4 at a price of $99 (or $17 a month with financing from Affirm). The newest addition to Motorola’s Moto E lineup of affordable smartphone devices had made its debut just a little more than a couple of weeks ago.
For those who missed the handset’s formal unveiling, know that it is equipped with a 5 inch display screen with a resolution of 720 pixels. This is complemented with an 8 megapixel main camera on the rear side (with f/2.2 aperture), and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side (wide angle lens). As far as hardware specifications are concerned, the Moto E4 offers a 1.4 GigaHertz four core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chip, aided by 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), plus 16 gigabytes of built in memory (expandable up to 32 gigabytes by way of a micro SD card slot). Other notable features include a 2,800 mAh battery and Google’s Android 7.1 Nougat mobile operating system.
While it is true that the Moto E4 will not be able to compete with the flagship device offerings of other Android phone makers like Samsung or LG, the handset does serve as a good option for those who are looking to buy an affordable smartphone whose specifications are not bad. This is echoed by Chris Chuang, the chief executive officer of Republic Wireless, who stated via a press release that the Moto E4 is a solid device offering ideal for first time smartphone owners, such as teenagers, tweens, or even grandparents. Chuang added that with the Moto E4, users are going to get a taste of some premium features at a midrange pricing. And combined with Republic Wireless already budget friendly options, customers have themselves a winning combo.
Republic Wireless has been busy the past few months offering interesting deals to its customers. Back in May earlier this year for instance, the MVNO had introduced a special offer that promised to give free mobile service for half a year to new customers who are willing to leave their current network, switch to Republic Wireless, and even bring their Android powered mobile device with them. Although this offer was for a limited time only, we get the feeling that Republic Wireless might be readying another new deal soon.
