After its fiasco with the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is now making sure their Galaxy S8 will not end up with the same fate. Which is why we will not be seeing the much anticipated device in the upcoming Mobile World Congress event that will be held in Spain next month (as hinted earlier). Although this may seem like a disappointment for many who have been waiting for the device, it does not necessarily mean that the South Korean smartphone manufacturer will not be showcasing a new product at the tech show.
Earlier today, Samsung sent out press invites for an event during the annual mobile conference. The invite is set for an event they are officially hosting in Barcelona on February 26th, Sunday. As of this writing, it is quite unclear what Samsung will be launching during the event. But if rumors are to be believed, it could likely be the brand new Galaxy Tab S3.
Rumor has it that the Galaxy Tab S3 will be equipped with a 9.6 inch display with a resolution of 2,048 by 1,536 pixels. The tablet will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) and 32 gigabytes of storage capacity. Like other tablets, the Galaxy Tab S3 will be equipped with a couple of cameras -- a 12 megapixel camera on the back of the device and a 5 megapixel camera in front. The tablet will also be running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system from Google.
Given the fact that the tablet is rumored to start selling in March, it could be possible that the Galaxy Tab S3 will be the device that Samsung launches during their event at MWC. When it launches, the device is said to be available for around 700,000 won or $607.
As for the Galaxy S8, Samsung is expected to launch the device in the later part of March or April. Until then, we will be able to see what to look forward to from the company's newest flagship. Like any highly awaited smartphone release, there is no shortage of rumors associated with the upcoming latest addition to Samsung’s lineup of Galaxy S devices. Speculation includes the absence of a headphone jack, an edge to edge display screen (that is pressure sensitive, ultra HD, and has support for 4K), an optical fingerprint sensor, and an artificial intelligence digital assistant.
