More than a fortnight ago, Sprint had decided to keep the pricing of its Unlimited Freedom option consistent on the first four lines of service. That is, the first line of service is offered at $50, a couple of lines at $40 each, and then four lines at $30 each. But very recently, the major US wireless carrier is introducing a new promotional deal that basically allows customers to get an extra fifth line of service, free of charge.
Because of this new special offer, mobile users can essentially choose to either get an additional person to join the unlimited family plan, or even add another separate work line -- either way, they never have to worry about paying extra fees every month. Sure, the pricing does not come with taxes and charges that could be applied on top of the carrier fees, but they do include HD streaming for video content, as well as 10 gigabytes of mobile hotspot data use every month.
Interested parties should be reminded, however, that the promo pricing will only be good until June 30th of next year. Also, when that date comes, the first line of service will be priced at $60 a month, the second will cost $40, and the third, fourth, and fifth lines will cost $30 each. In the last few months, all members of the Big Four (namely Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint) have been introducing new changes to their respective unlimited data offerings. Those changes typically revolve around attaching HD video streaming inclusions to existing options, or offering a more expanded or flexible pricing structure.
Things get more interesting with the recent launch of two of the biggest smartphone releases this year -- Samsung’s new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus flagship phablets. Less than a week ago, Sprint had debuted a new 2 for 1 leasing promotional deal for the devices. This offer basically lets customers pay $31.25 a month in order to be able to lease a pair of smartphones, provided they opt to activate a new line of service.
Sprint has good reason to be aggressive in introducing new deals -- the level of competition has continued to intensify with the so-called unlimited data wars, and as the number four mobile operator in America, the company needs to be constantly on its guard. Still, various industry watchers believe that Sprint will just be fine, as long as it puts its considerable holdings of 2.5 GigaHertz airwaves to good use.
