Apple has rolled out the first public beta of its latest update to iOS 10 (the final one before iOS 11 is released). Despite some rumored features not making the cut, like the Theater mode (which lets users dull the colors of the display screen to allow for easier viewing in low light conditions, there are some notable features of the newest update that owners of iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices should watch out.
First off is the Apple ID Profile. This is the new profile section located at the top of the menu for settings, and it contains all the user’s account information. By clicking on this ID profile, the user will be able to access his iCloud, iTunes, App Store, or Family Sharing information, and then be able to scroll down to view a list of all iOS handsets associated with the account.
Then there is the iCloud storage breakdown, which should be particularly handy for those paying for additional storage by way of iCloud. Users will now be able to ascertain how exactly they are using their iCloud storage just by tapping on the iCloud option in the new ID Profile section. When clicking the graph located at the top of this part, a storage breakdown is provided, with details on gigabyte usage. Some may have not gotten to enabling the two factor authentication on their account yet -- the latest update provides a suggestion section just beneath the ID profile in the main settings page. It is quite possible that Apple may also take full advantage of this page to offer other suggestions, especially in helping users maximize their device’s performance.
For those who regularly use Apple’s Maps app, know that the latest update now allows them a glimpse of the weather information instantly. There now exists a small weather bug at the bottom right of the display screen, displaying the latest weather conditions wherever the user is currently located. If the user 3D Touches the weather bug, a week long forecast will be generated.
As for those who love listening to music, specifically those who purchased Apple’s AirPods, the new Find my AirPods feature should be useful. To be able use this feature, users will have to sign in to their Find my iPhone app and then be able to see the AirPods added to their account. Tapping the AirPods option will instantly provide information regarding the last known whereabouts of the wireless headphones -- well, actually it just makes the AirPods ring so that you can locate them.
