Reliable leaker (if there is such a thing) Evan Blass has posted a tweet that appears to show LG’s upcoming flagship device, the G6, rendered from all angles. Based on the leaked image, the smartphone is pretty much consistent with recent rumors -- the renders suggest that the G6 may sport a dual lens camera configuration, as well as a fingerprint reader on the rear side. The South Korean phone maker has confirmed that is upcoming latest handset offering will come with a higher screen to body ratio, and the leaked image by Blass certainly supports that. Moreover, it appears that the front side bezel has been significantly slimmed down.
LG has already revealed that its G6 will be officially introduced to the world this coming February 26th, one day before the yearly Mobile World Congress is set to kick off in the beautiful city of Barcelona in Spain. Some of the device’s specifications have already been made public, such as its Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip set, and its Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system.
Almost a week ago, LG had released a teaser video of its G6, highlighting the device’s FullVision display. With a 5.7 inch screen sporting a Quad HD+ resolution of 2,880 by 1,440 pixels, the G6 offers a rather irregular 18:9 aspect ratio. But the company has since revealed that this aspect ratio is by design, especially in allow a couple of windows to fit nicely to each other when the handset is held horizontally by the user.
Also, it has been reported that the G6 will feature a mobile user interface that offers support for a new Square Camera mode. With this new feature, the device can capture images (even in 1:1 mode, which sometimes work best on various social media platforms) and then review them simultaneously side by side.
The newest flagship device from LG is also expected to come with water proofing capabilities (there is talk that it will have an IP68 rating), effectively marking the first time the South Korean tech giant is releasing a water proof flagship offering. This should be consistent with the rumors that the handset will have a non-removable battery (which helps in water proofing).
Earlier this month, it was also rumored that the LG G6 smartphone will be launching in the United States mobile market on April 7th of this year (in South Korea, the launch date is said to be earlier at March 9th).
